Update: The comment sheet that was available at the meeting for participants to fill in is now available here. You’ll have to either print it out, fill it in, and drop it off to the street address it names; or download it, open it with a program like Word or LibreOffice, fill it in, save or export it back to a PDF, and then email it as an attachment to the email address named.
An email with a suitable subject line sent to camosunca@gmail.com will work equally as well.
This presentation from Abstract Developments was presented at the Feb. 19th meeting.
The meeting was well attended with about 80 people showing up to participate. Many questions were raised and answered. The CCA distributed a survey at the meeting; no decision yet as to whether the survey results will be shared here.
The Abstract presentation references Saanich’s Shelbourne Valley Action Plan (SVAP), approved by Council in 2017. SVAP images are used within the presentation, as shown here.

Saanich has made the draft Cedar Hill Park Management Plan (PDF – 12 MB) and associated appendices (PDF – 20 MB) now available for viewing.
The draft plan has been developed and revised with assistance from the Stakeholder Working Group. After receiving comments from the public, we will revise the draft plan and present to Saanich Council for recommended approval later this spring.
The vision, goals, themes and goals highlighted in the management plan will provide sound guidance for both staff and community to consider in the management of the park and the development of capital projects in the park over the next 20 years.
Saanich has these same documents available on their website with full context until March 11, 2020, when they presumably hope you will have commented should you be disposed to do so.
Camosun College has published on their website a master plan for the next two decades. It makes for an interesting read. With housing in our community being a challenge for many, including students from outside lower Vancouver Island, it’s no surprise that ideas and plans for student housing are presented.
There are challenges to attaining this overall vision that the College will work through in the years ahead. Nonetheless, for those of us for whom Camosun College is a near neighbour, the master plan of 2019 provides a clear sense of what the future may hold in our back yard.

Yes, it’s very short notice. We know. However, Abstract Developments has agreed to an open house where the project team will present their two proposals on December 18th, 2019 from 6pm to 8pm, at 3460 Shelbourne Street, the Shelbourne Street Church of Christ.
Their latest circular on this topic may be viewed here.
The projects are at 3405 Shelbourne Street (at Freeman Avenue) and 1647 McRae Avenue (at Shelbourne Street). Both projects are condo buildings, with the Freeman Avenue project also including townhouses.
Members of the CCA board of directors will be in attendance to assist with any questions.
