The Hillside Centre redevelopment project will begin work along Hillside Avenue beginning Wednesday February 27th. The work will take approximately three months to complete. The work will affect traffic routing along Hillside between Doncaster Road and Shelbourne Street. The scope of the work includes enhanced boulevard space and safe pull off bays for buses along this stretch of Hillside.
Traffic along Hillside will remain open in both directions. Inbound (i.e., west bound) traffic will be reduced to a single lane of traffic in areas of construction. Side street access will remain open. Pedestrian traffic will be guided around the construction.
The Hillside and Shelbourne intersection bears a high traffic flow, and is well known as having a high number of accidents annually. Drivers are asked to exercise increased caution near this intersection and around these construction areas, and to give particular care when pedestrians and bicycles are on or near the roadway.
