  • CCA Website Changes
    For the past few years, the CCA website has been based on fairly simple but custom HTML and CSS. All postings have been done and maintenance performed by the web admin. In an effort to enable CCA directors to post content directly to the website, we are now using the WordPress blogging solution. While the CCA website is not a personal blog, the WordPress software provides strong content management  features, built in search, and the ability for viewers and readers to provide feedback to the directors. As this change is made, the look of the website and its layout are changing. There will doubtless be more changes in site organization and presentation as we learn how best to use the WordPress software for our purposes. Please let us know through the “Leave a comment” feature or via the Contact the CCA page email links if you have any suggestions to improve the site.   • Golden Willow Removal on Bowker Creek

    Saanich has hired a private contractor to remove invasive golden willow on the bank of Bowker Creek opposite St Pat’s school. Only willows on this section of Bowker Creek are being removed due to budget limitations and screening concerns.

    Replanting with native trees will occur later in the month by Saanich staff.

    The work will start on September 15th.

  • Secondary Suites – Survey Results of Saanich’s South-of-McKenzie Study

    Saanich has posted survey results from its 2009 South-of-Mckenzie Secondary Suite study: http://www.saanich.ca/business/development/plan/secondarysuitestudy.html#study.

    The goal of the study is to look at the issues and possible regulations regarding the legalization of secondary suites, with residents and property owners of single family homes in Saanich neighbourhoods south of McKenzie Avenue.

    Survey results identified over 70 percent support to the question “Please tell us how supportive you are of legalizing secondary suites.” The results are comparable with those of a 2007 survey conducted as part of the Official Community Planning review process: http://www.camosuncommunityassociation.com/documents/OCP%202007%20QD1A.pdf.

    According to Saanich’s website, all of the feedback provided by residents will be presented to Council for its review and consideration in early Fall of this year.
