About the Camosun Community Association

The CCA is a non-profit society registered in the Province of British Columbia.

Membership

The boundaries of the CCA are as shown in the map below, which was derived from an image presented by the CRD Natural Areas Atlas. Compare this to our old boundaries here as currently mapped by Saanich.

An interesting fact is that our community association falls within no less than three provincial electoral districts, so we have three MLAs working for us!

Constitution

The constitution of the CCA dates from 1997.

Article 1 Name

The name of the Society is the Camosun Community Association (the "Association").

Article 2 Purpose

The purposes of the Association are to promote, facilitate, support or undertake activities that wilt enhance the quality of life for residents in the Camosun Community including, but not limited to:

Article 3 Non-Profit

The Association's purpose wilt be carried on without object of gain for its members and any profits or other accretions to the Association will be used in promoting its purposes. This Article is unalterable.

Article 4 Operations

The operations of the Association are to be carried out chiefly in the Camosun area of south-east Saanich, namely, the area bounded by Knight Street and the south slope of Mount Tolmie in the north; the boundary between the District of Oak Bay and the District of Saanich in the east; the boundary between the City of Victoria and the District of Saanich in the south and west, following the east side of Shetbourne Street to its intersection with Knight Street.

Article 5 Dissolution

In the event of dissolution or winding up of the Association, the members of the Association will appoint a special committee to liquidate the assets and liabiLities of the Association, provided the assets of the Association be distributed to one or more recognized chantable organizations in Canada. This Article is unalterable.

Bylaws

The bylaws of the society are those set out in Schedule B to the Society Act.

CCA Constitutional Bylaws

CCA bylaws as last amended at the February 16, 2006 AGM. There are some grammatical errors that will be corrected in due time.
